Just before 10:30pm Friday November 13th 2009, Burlington Northern Railroad notified the 911 Dispatch center that the North bound Coal Train had apparently struck an individual that was on the tracks. The Imboden Fire Department along with the Lawrence County Sheriffs Department, Ravenden Police Department, Randolph County Sheriffs Department and the Arkansas State Police responded to the accident. The victim was a 13 year old Randolph County youth who had apparently ran away from home after coming home from school. The Randolph County Sheriffs Department stated they recieved a call from the parents around 3:45pm stating the apparent run-away. Deputies had searched the area around the childs home and Lawrence County had already searched the Imboden area earlier in the evening. The youth reached Imboden and was walking southbound on the tracks when he was said to have been struck by the northbound Coal Train. Once reached by the Imboden Vol. Fire Department and medics with AET Ambulance Service the victim was then flown by Air Evac to Memphis. Family members reported Saturday he had been released from the hospital with a broken arm, broken finger, cuts and abrasions.
