The Izard County Sheriff’s Office has received several calls from citizens reporting that they have been contacted by individuals claiming to be with the Izard County Sheriff’s Office and offering a way to get a loved one out of jail.
One of the offers being made involves an ankle monitor. The Izard County Sheriff’s Office does not have ankle monitors. If electronic monitoring is ordered by the court, it is handled through a third-party company.
We have also received reports of callers offering to accept money over the phone to get someone out of jail. The Izard County Sheriff’s Office does NOT accept bond payments by phone or online.
Do not send money, provide financial information, or give personal information to anyone who calls claiming they can arrange for a loved one to be released from jail.
If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and contact the Izard County Sheriff’s Office directly using a verified phone number.
