What can 500-year-old pottery, ancient houses and a 5 a.m. start time teach you?
Lyon College archaeology students spent a month uncovering the past at one of Arkansas’s most significant archaeological sites, discovering pottery, stone tools, animal bones and the remains of a Native American house dating to the 1500s.
The hands-on field school gave students real-world experience while helping researchers better understand the history of the White River Valley. Along the way, they built skills, friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.
Sometimes the greatest discoveries aren’t just buried in the ground. They’re found in the students learning how to uncover them.
