Justices in Lawrence County voted 7-1 on Monday at the regular meeting of the Lawrence County Quorum Court to put a proposed millage increase on the November ballot for voters.
The millage would be used to maintain county roads increasing the millage on real estate and personal property tax from 2 mill to 3 mill, costing the owner of a $200,000 home an estimated additional $40 per year in taxes.
The measure will now be placed on the November ballot.
