Deputies with the Izard County Sheriff’s Office were notified by agents with the Arkansas State Police regarding a wanted individual, David Charles Jones, 55, of Melbourne. Jones was wanted out of Montague County, Texas, on a warrant for sexual abuse of a child that was issued on March 31, 2026.
Authorities received information that Jones might be traveling in a Chevrolet truck on Highway 9 south of Melbourne.
Deputies responded to the area and quickly located the vehicle near the Twin Creek area. The vehicle subsequently turned onto Mt. Olive Road, where deputies conducted a traffic stop. Jones was detained without incident while deputies awaited the arrival of Arkansas State Police agents and confirmation of the warrant.
Following confirmation, Jones was taken into custody and transported to the Izard County Jail, where he is currently being held pending extradition to Montague County, Texas.
