A Newport couple is being held in the Independence County Detention Center on $250,000 bail each after a judge found probable cause to charge the two.
Daniel Loyd Renfrow, age 37 and Melissa Anna Renfrow, age 45 are both charged with Engaging Children In Sexually Explicit Conduct For Use In Visual Or Print Medium and are both being charged as habitual offenders.
The charges stem from an investigation that began when detention officers reported a jail house video call that reportedly showed Daniel Renfrow, an inmate, performing a sexual act while on a video call with Melissa and an 8 year old child being present with Melissa during the video chat.
After the video was reported to ASP Crimes Against Children Division, CACD retrieved the video and interviewed the detention officer at the White River Regional Detention Center.
The child was removed for living conditions from the residence by DHS according to court documents.
The two are currently incarcerated in lieu of $250,000.00 bonds.
