On Monday March 30th, 2026, the Clay County Sheriff’s Dept. requested the charges for Joe Ray Dodd of Knobel be amended to 2nd Degree Murder.
Joe Ray Dodd has been incarcerated at the Clay County Detention Center since his arrest on March 15th.
He had a Bond of $500,000.00 for 1st Degree Domestic Battery of a Family Member.
Mr. Dodd’s Father Joe E. Dodd of Knobel passed away March 20th at the Med in Memphis. The Clay County Coroner received a preliminary autopsy report from the State Crime Lab. From this report the Sheriff’s Dept. made this request. District Judge Curtis Hitt found Probable Cause and set Mr. Dodd’s bond at $1.5 million.
