On Monday March 16th, 2026 the Sheriff’s Dept. brought 49yr. old Heather Taylor of Corning to Circuit Court in Corning. Ms. Taylor’s attorney requested to speak with her in private. They were in the back room of the courthouse, when her attorney advised her, she was going to get sentenced to the Arkansas Department of Corrections. When her attorney left the room Ms. Taylor went into the back hallway and saw that no deputy was present. She then ran out the back door of the courthouse in her jail uniform, leg irons, and shackles. A lady went up to a deputy, and advised what she had seen. Deputies and Corning P.D. located Ms. Taylor a short time later at 711 Market Street, her father’s house. She was then returned to the courthouse. She was being sentenced for 2 counts of Battery ll on Law Enforcement from when she fought and struck 2 deputies in the courtroom on August 26th, 2025. She had to be carried out of the courtroom when she was sentenced to a year in the county jail for Misdemeanor Theft. She is now facing new charges of 3rd, Degree Felony Escape. District Judge Curtis Hitt set her bond at $500,000.00.
