Authorities report a Jonesboro woman was killed Thursday in Hot Springs when a fleeing suspect in a stolen vehicle crashed into their vehicle during a pursuit.
Hot Springs PD said Patricia Minga, age 73, of Jonesboro and Kathryn White, age 78, of Hot Springs both were killed as a result of the crash.
Hot Springs PD attempted to stop a stolen vehicle around the intersection of Cleveland and White Streets on March 12th 2026. The driver refused to stop, leading officers on a pursuit.
During the chase, the suspect vehicle collided with the victim’s vehicle at Hobson Avenue and Fifth Street, killing Minga and White and injuring two others.
The suspect fled on foot after the crash but was captured a short time later.
The suspect was identified as Lee Amos Smith, age 50, of Hot Springs.
Smith is facing multiple charges including two counts of manslaughter, two counts of battery, fleeing, leaving the scene of an accident involving injury or death, theft by receiving, and three counts of second-degree criminal mischief.
