Glenda Marie Smith, 86, of Walnut Ridge, passed away at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro on Saturday, February 28th, 2026.

Born January 22,1940 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, she was the only child of Ed & Janie Foster Frye. Glenda was a 1958 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School and lived most of her life in the Walnut Ridge area. Glenda worked as a sales clerk at The Children’s Centre and later was an employee of the Lawrence County Library of Walnut Ridge for 16 years. She was a lifetime member of White Oak Baptist Church where she served as church secretary, and on several committees also working at many vacation bible school programs. 

On May 21,1960 Glenda was united in marriage to Lewis Franklin Smith. They have been happily married for 65 years. Glenda loved traveling and visiting with her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed sharing her recipes and techniques with her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Lewis Smith; a daughter, Lesa Smith Walter and husband Jon of Walnut Ridge; two granddaughters, Alissa Gaithe (Pierce) of Fayetteville, AR and Janie Walter (Chris Danner) of Los Angeles, CA; two great-grandchildren, Marin Gaithe and Orin Gaithe of Fayetteville, AR.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 4th at 10:00 a.m. at White Oak Baptist Church of Walnut Ridge with funeral services immediately following at 11:00 a.m; officiated by Bro. Keith Marlin, Bro. Robert Foster and Bro. Jason Glenn, Pastor of White Oak Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Jon Walter, Ross Rainwater, Greg Brady, Scott Brady, Jared Brady and Logan Brady. Interment will follow in the Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery in Walnut Ridge.
