Convicted murderer and former police chief Grant Hardin aka “Devil In The Ozarks” is scheduled to appear in an Izard County Court on Tuesday, February 17th at 9:30 a.m. with a jury trial slated to start on February 18th in connection with his charge of second-degree escape.

The hearing was originally set for late 2025 but rescheduled.

Grant Hardin is currently serving an 80-year sentence in the Arkansas Department Of Corrections for murder and rape. Hardin’s current charges stems from his May 2025 escape from the North Central Unit in Calico Rock.

Authorities say Hardin impersonated a corrections officer and walked out of a secure gate in broad daylight.

After a nearly two-week manhunt Hardin was located approximately 1.5 miles from the prison.

After his recapture, Hardin was transferred to the Varner Supermax Unit, Arkansas’ most secure correctional facility.
