Shooting Investigation Underway In Black Rock
Law enforcement is investigating a shooting incident that occurred this evening in Black Rock.
Lawrence County E-911 received a 3rd party call from out of state reporting a family member was believed to in danger stating the male subject at the residence was under the influence, threatening a female and had reportedly shot himself in the arm at a residence in the 200 block of South 8th Street.
At 7:31pm Black Rock Police, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies and Arkansas State Police were all notified.
An ambulance from MediOne was placed on standby until the scene was secured.
Officers from LCSO and BRPD were on scene by 7:38pm. One male suspect was taken into custody by Black Rock Police. The medical unit was cleared to come on scene and arrived at 7:45.
Chief Archer updated us at 8:20pm, the suspect was in custody. Archer also told us the suspect had discharged the weapon in the residence but the injury to his arm was not caused by a bullet (as originally reported).
Medics on scene treated the wound and the suspect was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center.
No names have been released at this time. Units are still on scene. This is an ongoing active investigation. We will update as information is released.
