Arkansas State Police say a Bay man died Friday evening after his vehicle crossed over the median on Interstate 555 and was struck by a tractor-trailer.
Arkansas State Police’s preliminary crash report stated the crash happened at 5:50 p.m. Jan. 16, 2026, at mile marker 13 on I-555 in Poinsett County.
According to the report, Larry Alton Neal was killed in the crash and Mark Carter Torbert Jr., of Hurtsboro, Alabama, was injured.
Neal was driving northbound on I-555 in his 2000 Mazda when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a cable barrier, and traveled through the median into the southbound traffic lane, where Torbert’s 2023 Freightliner struck the Mazda.
Torbert was transported to NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital for treatment.
ASP reported the weather as cloudy and the road as wet at the time of the crash.
