On January 7th 2026, shortly before 11:00 am the Lawrence County E-911 received a call of a reckless driver on Hwy 63 north of Sedgwick approaching Hwy 91. The caller reported the vehicle was unable to maintain its lane. E-911 stayed on the phone with the driver while other officers were notified.

Officers from Lawrence County, Arkansas State Police and Hoxie Police acknowledged the radio traffic.

ASP came into contact with the vehicle as it entered Hoxie and after observing the manner of driving made a traffic stop on the vehicle.

Arkansas State Trooper Roark initiated the stop at NW Edgar Street, upon approaching the driver whom he was familiar with as Hoxie Police Officer Daniel Hill ask “what was going on?” and explains they’d had reckless driving complaints on his vehicle called in.

Hill can be heard on ASP recordings replying he’d been in his phone while driving, returning from police supply in Jonesboro.

When asked if he was under the influence, Hill stated he was not.

ASP Trooper Roark was joined by ASP Trooper Lawson, Hill agreed to a field sobriety test which he took.

Officers can be heard on recorded video from ASP discussing the results of the field sobriety test where Hill can be seen struggling. Hill stated he had pulled a groin on a “lift assist the day before” and he thought it would effect the test.

Hill was given a PBT (Portable Breathalyzer Test) and passed.

Hill admitted hearing his “lane assist warning” and rumble strips as his vehicle crossed out of its lane.

Hill also originally stated on ASP recordings that he was returning from police supply in Jonesboro but in later statements he said he was returning from a doctors office visit pertaining to the injury he received the day before.

Officers openly discussed Hill being “Borderline” on ASP dash cam recordings before returning his license and registration. Hill denied being under the influence of any narcotics.

No charges were filed in this incident.
