On January 8, 2026, the Izard County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding a possible non-compliant sex offender residing at a campsite in the southwest part of Izard County. The individual was identified as Jonathon Charles Bailey, who had reportedly been living at the campsite for several months.

Sheriff’s Office investigators determined that Bailey is a registered sex offender out of Michigan with a listed address in Swartz Creek, Michigan. Deputies made contact with Bailey at the campsite, where his camper displayed Michigan registration, while his truck displayed Arkansas registration that returned to an address in Sharp County.

During the contact, Bailey stated he had been staying at the campsite since September 2025 but claimed it was only a temporary residence. He further stated that he had traveled back to Michigan on vacation, where he verified his sex offender registration and address. The Michigan Sex Offender Registry confirms that Bailey verified his information in Michigan on December 26, 2025.

Investigators also discovered that Bailey was in possession of multiple media devices capable of accessing the internet.

The Sharp County Sheriff’s Office was contacted, and they advised that Bailey had not registered with them for the sex offender registry.

Bailey failed to register his address, vehicles, and internet-capable devices with the Arkansas Sex Offender Registry as required by law. As a result, Jonathon Charles Bailey, age 53, has been charged with Failure to comply with registration and reporting requirements, a class “C” felony, in the Izard County Circuit Court.

Bailey is the 17th person to be charged with violating the sex offender registry requirements in Izard County in the last 3 years.
