An early morning vehicle pursuit that began in Mountain Home has resulted in the arrest of an Isabella, Missouri man on various charges.

At approximately 6:45 AM today, Sheriff’s Deputy John Wood attempted to make a stop on Main Street on a pickup truck that had committed a moving violation and had no license plate visible.  Rather than stopping, the driver of the vehicle increased speed and began to flee from the deputy, heading West bound on Main Street (U. S. Hwy 62 B).

A vehicle pursuit was declared, and additional deputies began to assist.  The driver of the vehicle continued fleeing and drove around a Sheriff’s Vehicle that attempted to block the roadway.  The pursuit continued toward Gassville on U. S. Hwy 62 West.  Speeds of up to 100 miles per hour were recorded.

The pursuit continued through Gassville and Cotter and then on across the White River into Marion County.  The driver of the vehicle turned and entered the City of Flippin, drove through Flippin on U. S. Hwy 62 B, and then turned North on State Highway 178 toward Bull Shoals, continuing at high speeds.  The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Arkansas State Police, and the Bull Shoals Police Department became involved at various points in an effort to stop the fleeing vehicle.

The driver turned down several different city streets while in Bull Shoals, before returning to State Highway 178 and going toward the Bull Shoals Dam.  The vehicle became disabled during the latter part of the pursuit, but made it just across the Bull Shoals Dam back into Baxter County before being brought to a halt.

The driver, identified as THADDAEUS CLAY EWRY, was then arrested and taken into custody after offering physical resistance to the arrest.  He was subsequently taken to the Baxter County Detention Center and incarcerated.
