A man wanted for the deaths of his parents in Carroll County, Ark., has died by suicide in an Oklahoma jail.
Travis McConnell, age 56, was arrested by Oklahoma authorities in the deaths of his parents, Joy Bennett Willmeth, 77, and Robert Leo Willmeth, 71, on November 14 near Berryville. Both died from gunshot wounds.
Investigators say after the shooting deaths, McConnell rammed his truck into a woman’s vehicle and opening fire at her. The suspect stated during the assault that he had “killed people in Arkansas.”
Law enforcement tracked the suspect to Oklahoma and arrested him near McAlester, Oklahoma.
McConnell refused to be interviewed but investigators were able to recover evidence, including clothing and firearms.
On Sunday, he died by suicide inside his Oklahoma jail cell.
