FDA Advises Consumers, Retailers, and Distributors Not to Eat, Sell, or Serve Recalled Black Sheep Egg Company Eggs

Due to the potential forSalmonella contamination, Black Sheep Egg Company recalled their 12- and 18-count cartons of Black Sheep Egg Company-branded Free Range Large Grade A Brown Eggs with Best By dates of 8/22/2025 through 10/31/2025 on the side of the carton.
The recalled product includes UPC codes: 860010568507 and 860010568538.

Black Sheep Egg Company of Walnut Ridge, AR, also distributed eggs to other companies in Arkansas and Missouri between July 9, 2025, to September 17, 2025, that may have repackaged them. Products may have been further distributed to other states, and additional products will be added to this advisory as information becomes available.
On October 16, 2025, Kenz Henz of Santa Fe, TX, recalled its 12-count packages of Kenz Henz brand “Grade AA Large Pasture Raised eggs” that they received from Black Sheep Egg Company because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. These recalled “12-Count Pasture Raised eggs” were sold in retail stores in Houston, TX. Symptoms of Salmonella (https://www.fda.gov/food/foodborne-pathogens/salmonella-salmonellosis)Infection
Illness usually occurs within 12 to 72 hours after eating food that is contaminated with Salmonella, and the symptoms usually last four to seven days. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. Children younger than five, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are more likely to have severe infections.

FDA is aware that recalled product could still be in people’s homes. More information about the distribution of this product will be provided as it becomes available.
Recommendation
Consumers, restaurants, and retailers should not eat, sell, or serve recalled eggs.
Consumers, restaurants, and retailers who purchased or received these products, should carefully clean and sanitize any surfaces or containers that the recalled eggs touched.
Check your refrigerators for these products and throw them away or return to place of purchase. If you stored the eggs without the original packaging and can’t tell if it is part of this recall, throw them away.
Wash hands, utensils, and surfaces with hot, soapy water before and after handling raw eggs and raw egg-containing foods.

The recalled Kenz Henz brand Grade AA Large Eggs are packaged in a 12 count carton marked with UPC code 86949400030, a Julian date of 241 (Aug 30) to 244 (Sep 2) and 246 (Sep 4) to 247 (Sep5) with a best by date of 10/11 to 10/14 and 10/16 to 10/17 stamped on the side.
These recalled “12-Count Pasture Raised eggs” were sold in retail stores in Houston, TX.

FDA initiated an inspection at Black Sheep Egg Company’s egg processing facility and collected environmental samples. Of the samples collected, 40 environmental samples were positive for Salmonella including seven different strains of Salmonella. Some of these strains are known to cause human illness. FDA does not have information available at this time to suggest that this firm is the source of an ongoing outbreak.
Black Sheep Egg Company has initiated a recall and has contacted their direct customers in an effort to remove potentially contaminated product from the market; however, in an effort to alert consumers who may still have products in their homes, FDA is issuing an alert to recommend that consumers, retailers, and distributors not eat, sell, or serve the recalled Black Sheep Egg Company products.
Products of concern include12- and 18-count cartons of Black Sheep Egg Company branded Free Range Large Grade A Brown Eggs with Best By dates of 8/22/2025 through 10/31/2025 listed on the side of the carton.
