Sharp County Sheriff’s deputies arrested and charged a couple after investigators discovered a child in their care had tested positive for methamphetamine.
Third Judicial Drug Task Force stopped a vehicle back in August for expired tags. Authorities reported during the traffic stop locating items consistent with the use of methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Also in the vehicle was a six-year-old child.
The mother of the child 27-year-old Margaret Ivie (driver) of Evening Shade, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine less than two grams and possession of drug paraphernalia with the purpose to use.
The child was removed from the mother and Brian Ivie’s care on Aug. 8th after authorities determined their substance abuse impeded ability to care for and protect the child and their usage around the child.
The child was placed into foster care, DHS took the child to the Children at Risk Clinic in Little Rock for testing, that testing came back positive for amphetamines, methamphetamine, and THC.
On Sept. 24th a judge found probable cause to arrest Margaret and Brian Ivie on charges of:
Introduction of a controlled substance into the body of another person, a Class Y felony
Endangering the welfare of a minor, a Class D felony
The judge set their bonds at $25,000 each.
