Authorities report a weeklong manhunt in north central Arkansas is over.
Wanted fugitive Stephan Richard Whaples, age 36, of Calico Rock, was arrested and booked into the Stone County Jail early Sunday morning.
Whaples is charged with two felonies — possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia — along with several misdemeanors, including fleeing on foot and multiple traffic violations.
Whaples had fled from law enforcement officers twice in less than 24 hours early last week.
On Aug. 3, he reportedly ran from an Arkansas State Police trooper on Dolph Road. A search of the area at that time was unsuccessful.
Around 3:15 a.m. the following day, deputies responded to a report that Whaples had been spotted in the 1500 block of West Crossroads fleeing before authorities arrived.
A K-9 Team from the Arkansas Department of Corrections was called to assist in the search.
Whaples was also wanted for parole violations.
