On July 14, 2025, the Quorum Court of Lawrence County declared a vacancy in the office of Justice of the Peace, District 4.
In accordance with A.C.A §14-14-1310 all officers appointed to fill a vacant county elective office shall meet all of the requirements for election to that office as set forth by Articles 3, 5, 7, and 19 of the Arkansas Constitution as such:
*Must possess the qualifications of an elector
*Must be a U.S. Citizen
*Must be an Arkansas resident
*Must reside within their respective Justice of the Peace district (District 4)
*Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
*Must be lawfully registered to vote
*Must have never been convicted of embezzlement of public money, bribery, forgery, or other infamous crime
All officers appointed shall serve for the entire unexpired term in the office in which the vacancy occurs, or until a successor is elected and qualified. Officers are not eligible to run for election of the appointed office immediately following the appointed term.
Appointments for Justices of the Peace are filled by the Governor.
