Independence County authorities report they have recovered nine stolen cattle valued at more than $15,000 in Independence County.
A investigation began after authorities received a tip from a local sale barn.
A joint operation between the Independence County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas Department of Agriculture was launched after a report of suspicious livestock activity on July 24th.
Investigators were alerted by staff at the Cattleman’s Livestock Exchange in Charlotte.
Authorities report the nine head of cattle, valued at approximately $15,450, were returned to their owner.
Eric Wayne Williams, age 31, of Batesville, has been detained by ICSO in connection with the theft.
Authorities say the case remains under investigation.
