POLICE OFFICER ARRESTED FOR INTERNET STALKING OF A CHILD

VAN BUREN, Ark. — The Arkansas State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, in coordination with the Van Buren Police Department (VBPD), Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations, has arrested a Van Buren police officer, charging him with felony Internet Stalking of a Child.

Jason Scites, 45, of Van Buren, was taken into custody on Monday, July 21, 2025, following an investigation that uncovered evidence of inappropriate online communication between Scites and a minor.

Scites was relieved of duty and transported to the Crawford County Detention Center.

VBPD Chief Jonathan Wear terminated Scites after his arrest and has formally submitted a request for decertification to the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training.
