A Batesville man found with more than 32,000 pornographic images and videos of children and animals has been sentenced to four years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
On Tuesday, July 15, Nathaniel Lloyd Nerdin age 36, of Batesville pled guilty to distributing, possessing, or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving children.
Judge Tim Weaver sentenced Nerdin to 48 months in the Arkansas Department of Corrections, with 161 days of jail time credit, and 72 months of suspended imposition of sentence. Nerdin must also register as a sex offender when released.
Arkansas State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a cyber tip about suspected child sexual abuse material being uploaded to an email address on a server on Oct. 9, 2024.
Arkansas State Police contacted the Independence County Sheriff’s Office and Batesville PD about the tip.
During a search of his residence, officers seized several electronics, including Nerdin’s cell phone. Authorities say when they downloaded the phone, investigators discovered 32,157 images and 1,743 videos from the device.
Nerdin was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 4th 2025 and booked into the Independence County Jail.
