If you keep up with the Baxter County Arkansas Sheriff’s Office, you already know longtime Sheriff John Montgomery and his deputies are determined to enforce compliance on registered sex offenders. Sheriff Montgomery and his staff post weekly and sometimes daily arrest reports of non-compliant offenders.

Today the BCSO released information about registered sex offender JAY MITCHELL BAKER, 44 years old of Midway, Arkansas, who was arrested yesterday, July 14th, for failing to comply with sex offender registration and reporting requirements.

He is assessed as a Level 3 offender (high risk to re-offend).

The Sheriff’s Office registration officer, Deputy Tanner Anderson, obtained a search warrant on JAY BAKER’S cellular telephone.

During the search, it was discovered that BAKER had multiple social media accounts that he did not disclose to the Sheriff’s Office during his registration, contrary to Arkansas law.

As a result of these findings, JAY BAKER was arrested and taken to the Baxter County Detention Center where he was booked on a felony charge of Failure to Comply with Registration and Reporting Requirements.  He is being held in lieu of $15,000 bond, and he will appear before the Circuit Court to answer on July 21st.
