Douglas Linn Cousins, lovingly known as “Doug” or affectionately by many as “Cuz,” departed this life on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis at the age of 71.

Doug was born on July 11, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late Fred and Marie Cousins. He dedicated his life to service and leadership, retiring as the Police Chief of Pocahontas. His passion for law enforcement extended beyond the badge—he was a member of the Elks, a member of the Crowley’s Ridge Defenders, a motorcycle club made up of police officers, and an member of the Fast Glass Corvette club.

Doug lived with joy, humor, and a deep sense of curiosity. A lifelong Elvis Presley enthusiast, he named all of his pets after Elvis-themed characters and songs.

From the late 1970s through the mid-1990s, Doug was also known for his time in the ring as a professional wrestler. He made a name for himself on the Mid-American Championship Wrestling circuit and was honored with induction into the Mid-American Championship Wrestling Hall of Fame on December 7, 2016—an accomplishment he was deeply proud of.

A spirited Bigfoot believer and ghost hunter, Doug was always on the lookout for the mysterious and unexplained. His hobbies were as colorful as his personality—flamingos, fast cars, haunted places, and promoting Elvis tribute artists brought him joy. Simply put, Doug was an avid hobbyist and a lover of life in all its eccentricities.

A man of Christian faith, Doug found purpose in his community, family, and friendships. He is survived by his devoted wife, Debbie Cousins of the home; three daughters, Angie Baker (Roger) of Gulf Shores, AL, Holly Miller (David) of Jonesboro, and Breanna Black (Marty) of Bono; three sons, Phillip DeClerk of Hoxie, Justin Anderson (KayAnn) of New Castle, PA, and Shawn Anderson of Hubbard, OH; and four sisters, Joyce Vetter, Olivia Elliot, Vicki Walin, and Carol Dixon.

Doug’s legacy continues through his grandchildren: Lauren Higgins, Asher DeClerk, Harper Miller, Miles Miller, Brett Anderson, Zoey Walz, Jillian Blair, Jesse Black, Xander Black, and Hayden Black, and Willow Anderson; and his great-grandchildren: Lily Higgins, Alivia Blair, and Amity Blair. He also leaves behind a lifetime of friends who will miss his laughter, stories, and larger-than-life personality.

In accordance with Doug’s wishes, all services will be private. His memory will continue to shine through the stories told, songs played, and mysteries explored by those who loved him.
