Corning Police Chief Blaine McClung reports that on July 1, 2025, the Corning Police Department executed a search warrant on Highway 67/West Main Street in Corning. During the search, officers seized several illegal narcotics, including methamphetamine and marijuana, numerous items of drug paraphernalia, and 4 firearms. As a result of the search, 67-year-old John Brown of Corning was taken into custody and transported to the Clay County Detention Center.

On July 2, 2025, Clay County District Judge Dan Stidham found probable cause to charge Mr. Brown with § 5-64-419 – Possession of a controlled substance Class D felony, § 5-74-106 – Simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms Class Y felony, § 5-73-107 – Possession of a defaced firearm Class D felony, § 5-64-419 – Possession of a controlled substance Class A misdemeanor, and 5-64-443 – Possession of drug paraphernalia Class A misdemeanor. Judge Stidham set bond for Mr. Brown at $150,000 cash or surety.
