On June 30, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Izard County Dispatch received a report of a missing Horseshoe Bend man. The caller stated that the man had borrowed a lawn mower the afternoon before to cut his grass but had not returned it, and his yard remained unmowed and the man could not be located.

Izard County Deputies immediately began a search for the individual. At approximately 7:30 a.m., the man and the lawn mower were located at the intersection of North Shore Drive and Michigan Avenue in Horseshoe Bend.

Deputies determined that the man had been mowing near the intersection when the mower overturned into a culvert hidden by underbrush, making the scene difficult to detect. Tragically, the mower landed on top of the man, fatally trapping him beneath it.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
