Authorities report a Hoxie man is behind bars after he fled from police in Jonesboro at speeds over 100 mph along with a blood-alcohol reading over twice the legal limit.

Zander Croom of Hoxie is charged with fleeing, driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license, and possession of an open alcohol container in a vehicle.

Jonesboro police observed a white pickup truck failing to maintain its lane, the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver fled.

The JPD officer pursued the suspect, speeds of 105 mph and reported to swerve wildly across all lanes of traffic and into the highway median.

The pursuit continued for three miles until the suspect pulled over near the Southwest Drive exit of I-555.

Zander Croom exhibited slurred speech and the odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle when officers approached.

An open, partially full beer can in the storage pocket behind the passenger seat was discovered during the stop.

Croom was arrested and taken to jail for BAC testing, where he had a reading of .19 according to court documents.

Croom also had a suspended driver’s license.

Croom has a $5,000, cash only bond. Croom is scheduled to appear in court on July 31.
