Two females, one age 40 and a 12 year old daughter were floating on inner tubes on Thursday afternoon when they were reported hours overdue to Sharp County authorities.
Poughkeepsie Fire Department, Sharp County Sheriff’s Deputies and Arkansas Game and Fish all responded to the area of the Strawberry River just before sunset on Thursday. Authorities requested a helicopter from Survival Flight.
Boats were launched around 10pm from the Peebles Bluff AGFC Access, the helicopter searched the river and surrounding areas for signs of the pair. Authorities even attempted to ping a cell phone to get a location.
Shortly after launching boats, searchers reported finding the tubes the two were floating on abandoned on a sandy beach. Shortly after, searchers found the pair, reported to be uninjured but dehydrated.
Units were clear and back in service shortly after 11pm. The identities have not been released.
