On June 1st, 2025, at approximately 3:50 P.M. a Clay County Deputy was traveling South on Hwy. 139 toward Holly Island, when a Jeep Cherokee passed him at a high rate of speed. The Deputy stayed behind the vehicle at a speed of 90 M.P.H. A traffic stop was made just North of Holly Island. When the deputy walked up beside the vehicle he could smell a strong odor of Marijuana. During the traffic stop the deputy advised them he could smell Marijuana, and they advised the deputy they were from Missouri. The individuals then handed the deputy 2 jars of Marijuana. The deputy then placed in custody both subjects and conducted a search of the vehicle. During the search 2 vacuum sealed bags of Marijuana were found. The Marijuana totaled over 2 lbs., and they were also in possession of several hundred dollars. 19 yr old Trinity Joeleen Griffith of Poplar Bluff Mo. was transported to the Clay County Detention Center and booked in on the following charges: Hazardous Driving, D.W.I., Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of SCHVI With Purpose to Deliver. 29 yr old Dester Lenard Moore of Poplar Bluff, MO. was transported to the Detention Center and Booked in on the following charges: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of SCH VI With Purpose to Deliver.
