Corning Police report on June 2, 2025, officers from the Corning Police Department responded to a call at an address on West Main Street. Upon arrival, the officers, accompanied by a deputy from the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, made contact with the suspect, who appeared intoxicated. The officers spoke with the elderly victim, who was covered in blood, and reported being assaulted and choked by the suspect. The suspect admitted to causing the victim’s injuries and was taken into custody. Joseph Arnold, a 19-year-old resident of Corning, was arrested and transported to the Clay County Detention Center. Mr. Arnold faces charges of § 5-13-204 – Aggravated Assault, a Class D felony, § 5-71-212 – Public Intoxication, and § 3-3-203 – Purchase or Possession by a Minor. Mr. Arnold is currently awaiting a bond hearing.
