It’s been over a week since former police chief Grant Hardin escaped from the North Central Unit in Calico Rock, where he was serving sentences in the 1997 rape of a teacher and the 2017 murder of a Gateway city employee.
Hardin age 56 escaped the prison wearing a makeshift officer uniform around 2:55 p.m. on May 25th.
Law enforcement continues to follow leads. Tips reported in Faulkner and Sebastian County, Arkansas, as well as Howell County, Missouri, have led nowhere, according to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
Investigators said the search is still focused on North Central Arkansas, an area with dense forest, caves, rivers, and treacherous terrain. The manhunt is being carried out via boots on the ground, drones, dogs, horseback, helicopters, and more.
A reward is being offered for information leading to Hardin’s capture.
Hardin is now charged with second-degree escape in Izard County.
