Deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office initiated a pursuit on Sunday after a red Honda motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on Hwy 63 refuse to stop for law enforcement.

The pursuit began on Hwy 63 near Hoxie, speeds were reported at over 115 mph as the chase approached the Portia area. Other units including a Hoxie unit and Walnut Ridge unit attempted to assist but the pursuit turned on Hwy 25 in Black Rock toward Powhatan.

The rider was reportedly passing in “no passing” zones, passing in the turning lane and splitting traffic in an attempt to evade authorities.

Speeds of over 90 mph were reported as the chase passed Powhatan and Lake Charles headed toward Lynn.

Sharp County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police were both notified and dispatched units to assist.

At 9:45 deputies intercepted and made a felony stop at an intersection near Farm Service in Lynn.

The suspect was taken into custody by Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center.

The motorcycle was towed by Cook’s Wrecker Service from the scene. No names have been released. No injuries were reported.
