Law enforcement continues to search for ADC escapee Grant Hardin.

Hardin escaped the North Central Unit of the Arkansas Department of Corrections prison in Calico Rock Sunday May 25th.

On Tuesday, May 27th, additional charges of Escape in the 2nd Degree, a class B felony, were filed against Hardin.

Grant Hardin, a former law enforcement officer was serving a 30 year prison sentence for both rape and murder.

Grant Hardin escaped custody after impersonating a corrections officer on Monday May 25th and has not been seen since.

Investigators say that Hardin “impersonated a corrections officer in dress and manner causing the Corrections Officer operating a secure gate to open the gate and allow inmate Hardin to walk away from the North Central Unit”.

Hardin is considered extremely dangerous. He has been in the Calico Rock prison since his conviction in 2017. Grant Hardin was the police chief in the small town of Gateway, Arkansas for a short time before being fired. Just six months later Hardin murdered Gateway water department employee, James Appleton in broad daylight. DNA collected at the murder scene linked Hardin to a rape committed 20 years prior of a teacher in Rogers, Arkansas. His crimes were covered in the documentary “Devil in the Ozarks”.

Anyone with information about Grant Hardin’s whereabouts are urged to call 911.
