Law enforcement continues an intense search for escaped convicted murderer Grant Hardin, age 56, who escaped the North Central Unit of the Arkansas Department of Corrections on Sunday.

According to authorities, Hardin escaped through the prison’s sally port wearing a makeshift outfit that resembled a law enforcement uniform.

The Arkansas Department of Corrections confirmed that Hardin was not wearing any official ADC-issued uniform and that all departmental equipment remains accounted for.

The manhunt is a joint effort involving the Arkansas Department of Corrections, Arkansas State Police, and multiple local and state law enforcement agencies.

Hardin had been incarcerated at the North Central Unit at Calico Rock since 2017, serving a 30-year sentence for first-degree murder, along with a separate sentence for rape.

Before his imprisonment, Hardin served as the police chief in Gateway, Arkansas, and has a background in law enforcement.

Law enforcement warns that Hardin should be considered extremely dangerous and not be approached.
