On April 29, 2025, officers from the Corning Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance call on West Main Street. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, who exhibited signs of domestic violence. Officers subsequently learned that the male suspect had fled the scene prior to their arrival. Officers successfully located the subject at a residence on Irma Street. With the assistance of a Deputy from the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, 32-year-old Mark Blaine Leonard of Corning was taken into custody. Mr. Leonard is charged with § 5-26-305 – Domestic battering in the third degree, § 5-38-203 – Criminal mischief in the first degree, § 5-71-207 – Disorderly conduct, and § 5-71-212 – Public intoxication. On the same day, Clay County District Judge Dan Stidham found probable cause to charge Mr. Leonard with the aforementioned charges. Judge Stidham set bond for Mr. Leonard at $5,000 cash only.
