Lawrence County like many surrounding counties received widespread damage in Friday night’s storm outbreak.
Damage reports started coming in around 11pm as storms with rotation moved into the area.
Strawberry Volunteer Fire Department along with Smithville and Imboden Fire Departments were dispatched to the Jesup area where several houses were reported damaged, the storm damage continued along Hwy 117 where numerous trees and power lines were down.
Lawrence County Judge Barnhill was out accessing the damage and helping to direct heavy equipment to needed areas.
Damage was also reported in the Black Rock area, both at the 117/63 intersection area and along Hwy 361 where trees and power lines were blocking the roadway.
Several other communities reported injuries and damage in the area including Ozark Acres, Cave City, Ash Flat, Jesup and Pocahontas.
Power outages were reported with the line of storms that came through, many areas are still without power.
