Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a man with a Grand Rapids, MI address on Wednesday evening, April 3rd, after responding to and investing a disturbance call on Dupont Lane in the Whiteville area.
At approximately 5:50 PM, a report was received that a man had kicked in the door of a residence on Dupont Lane and had then left the scene in a black Ford F150 pickup truck with out of state license plates. Deputies arrived at the residence and spoke with the victim. She alleged that a man by the name of Carl Vannatter had come to her residence. An argument ensued. Vannatter then kicked open the front door while she was on the phone with the 9-1-1 Center. The victim stated that Vannatter was an absconder and had multiple outstanding warrants.
Deputies confirmed that Vannatter was a parole absconder and alerted other officers and agencies to be on the lookout for him and his vehicle. At approximately 6:43 PM, an Arkansas State Police Trooper reported he was following a vehicle matching the description given and that it was displaying Montana license plates. The driver of this vehicle pulled into a gas station at the intersection of U. S. Hwy 62/412 Bypass and State Hwy 178 East and stopped. The Trooper detained the suspect there. Vannatter was subsequently arrested. During the arrest, a handgun was observed in the driver’s seat of the vehicle along with a bag containing what was believed to be methamphetamine. This was later determined to be approximately 12 grams of meth. Various articles of drug paraphernalia were also found.
