Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin stated Thursday that he will address the mask issue suggesting City Attorney Carol Duncan create a resolution recommending face coverings in indoor public places and businesses within the city limits of Jonesboro. Perrin said he’s asking for the resolution due to the threats of COVID spikes in the city.

Perrin hopes to adopt a version of the model ordinance sent by the governor’s office and municipal league.

The mayor stated he wants to support business and encourage Jonesboro businesses to enforce mask policies set forth by the city.

The proposed ordinance will require mask wearing in indoor public places and businesses within the city of Jonesboro.

Other cities in northeast Arkansas such as Batesville and Mountain View are currently discussing similar ordinances.
