According to State Reprensentative James Ratliff, several cities and groups received grants on friday.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department received a grant through rural services for the amount of 23,000.00 to be used to purchase a new truck for the sheriff’s fleet.
The town of Powhatan was awarded $3,000.00 for the community center, according to Rep. Ratliff Mr. David Foley was on hand to accept the awarded funds.
The City of Walnut Ridge was awarded $20,001.87 to be used for work on the bathhouse and swimming pool.
The Lawrence County Fair received $14,500.00 to be used towards a new show barn. Mr. Pat Roby was on hand to accept the awarded funds.
The Ravenden Volunteer Fire Department received a check for $10,000.00 that was presented to Mr. Dave Lawrence of the Ravenden Volunteer Fire Department according to Rep. Ratliff. The department is putting the funds toward a new rescue truck.
The Saffell Volunteer Fire Department received a check for $10,000.00 to be used towards new turnouts for the members and other fire fighting gear.
