On April 01, 2001 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Dept arrested Alvin Poe (07/19/60) of Kokomo, IN for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (meth), possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), possession of a controlled substance without a prescription (Xanax). The arrest came after a deputy stopped the vehicle Poe was driving for speeding (71 mph in a 55). The deputy was speaking with Poe and noticed him shaking. The deputy then asked Poe if he had anything illegal in the vehicle or on him. Poe told the deputy that he had some meth and marijuana. Poe then gave a black bag to the deputy containing about 8.2 grams of meth, some marijuana, Xanax and other pills along with several items used to smoke meth and marijuana. The bag also contained digital scales and baggies. Poe was placed under arrest and was transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing. Bond was set at $5,000 and a Circuit Court date of April 27 was issued at a hearing on Monday.
It’s like the sign at the County Line says, “Expect to be checked for DRUGS.”
