Monday October 18th a meeting was held at the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department to discuss the upcoming Holiday Plans for the City of Imboden. The meeting was open to the public and gave members of a committee formed in September an opportunity to hear suggestions from residents.

In a unanimous show of support, those in attendance asked that the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department sponsor the Christmas Parade. The committee discussed dates, times and other activities to be planned for the event.

The Parade will be held December 5th at 3pm and will line up from Tabor Street and 4th Street and travel back to the Sloan Hendrix Campus. This is a reversal from years past. Floats will be arranged by Doug and Peggy Swink, Horses and Riders will be arranged by Mike Wildrick, Antique Cars and Motorcycles will be handled by Bill Powell and Gene Ponder will direct all Fire Trucks and Police Cars.

Those riding horses are asked to park their trailers at the City Shop located on East 5th Street and members of the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department have offered to shuttle drivers back to the City Shop after the parade to get their vehicles. Parade officials ask that horses are not ridden back down 4th street after the parade for safety reasons, they may be loaded at the campus of Sloan Hendrix.

In addition to the parade, the Imboden Ministerial Alliance will be holding a singing at Sloan Hendrix immediately following the parade. Those plans are not complete at this time but will be posted as soon as they are available.

One of the biggest changes to the parade this year is no donations will be ask of individuals or businesses and no prizes will be given to floats. Also parade officials are asking that no candy be thrown from vehicles along the parade route, if your float would like to give out candy you are asked to have “walkers” along side your float to hand it out for safety reasons.

Also this years parade is dedicated to Robert Stallings for his many years of service to the parade and his years of service to the fire department and the City of Imboden. Thank You Robert, we appreciate all that you have done and continue to do.

The committee is meeting again November 15th at the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department at 6:30pm. The public is once again invited to attend.
