North Mississippi investigators are talking with authorities in Yazoo City, Mississippi, after they arrested a man who may have been impersonating an officer Wednesday night.
45-year-old James Lucas was pulled over Thursday for failing to use a turn signal. Upon further investigation, they found that he owns all of the props necessary to impersonate an officer.
After the arrest, police obtained a search warrant for his home. Inside, investigators found a fake police badge, guns, and handcuffs.
Lucas was driving a blue Mercury Marquis when he was pulled over by officers.
Wednesday night, two people reported being pulled over by a blue Marquis.
One passenger saw a man get out of the driver’s seat with a gun. In fear, he sped off and the Marquis followed. The driver who sped away fired shots at the Marquis. He was not sure if anyone or anything was hit by the bullets.
Later that same night, a woman was pulled over in the same area. She also drove away when she began feeling scared.
Both victims reported seeing a rebel flag vanity license plate on the front of the car that pulled them over.
Police are comparing this crime and the two murders in North Mississippi and have not connected these crimes yet.

Authorities Confident That An Arrest Will Be Made In Karen Swift Murder Case

Authorities today made several comments today to different media outlets, claiming an arrest will be made once the ongoing investigation in the Karen Swift murder case is finished. Authorities used statements such as “we are confident” and the “person or persons will be brought to justice”. The investigation into the disappearance and murder of the 44 year old mother of four has now been going on since October 30th, 2011, some 157 days.

Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box said his investigators “undoubtedly make an arrest”.

Swift’s body was recovered near a cemetery on December 10th 2011 by a caretaker just off Harness Road.

Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box stated his department is still asking anyone who had contact with Swift before her disappearance, recalls seeing anyone around her vehicle on Millsfield Highway on October 30th, 2011 or has any other information to contact the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office at 731-285-2802 or 1-800-TBI-FIND .

Join the movement and celebrate women’s health. National Women’s Health Week begins on Mother’s Day each year. It’s a reminder to women to take care of themselves, and to make health a priority.

Join the movement and Celebrate Women’s Health

National Women’s Health Week (NWHW) begins on Mother’s Day each year. It’s a reminder to women to take care of themselves, and to make health a priority. Improving women’s health is not limited to the doctor’s office or hospital. Improving women’s health starts at home with individuals and families taking steps to live safer, healthier lives.

The theme for National Women’s Health Week is “It’s Your Time.” This year, make a pact with yourself to live a healthier life and take time for you.

Indulge in healthy eating.

With the wealth of information available, you might find it difficult to sort through what’s right for you about nutrition and food choices. Don’t make it difficult. Start with simple things like less salt, smaller portions, and adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet.

Treat yourself to a lifestyle that includes physical activity.

Adults should get 2½ hours of moderate physical activity each week. Seems too overwhelming? Try breaking it up into smaller chunks of time during the day, and spreading it throughout the week. Start with a brisk 10 minute walk, or start a garden, dance or swim a few laps in the pool. Give it a try!

Pamper your mind and body. Take time for you! Reduce stress.

Manage stress at home, work, and school by taking steps to identify what may be stressing you and how to reduce or cope with it.

Include regular medical and dental check-ups on your to-do-list.

As you schedule the family’s check-up and doctor visits, make sure to schedule your appointments. Health exams and tests can help find potential conditions before they start, or before they become problems, when your chances for treatment and cure are better. Take charge of your health, schedule your appointments today!

Don’t let your disability keep you from a healthy lifestyle.

About 27 million women in the U.S. have disabilities – and the number is growing. Women with disabilities may need specialty care to address individual needs. In addition, you need the same general health care as women without disabilities. Having a disability doesn’t mean you can’t be healthy.

Enjoy 7-9 hours of sleep per night.

Not only does it feel great to get a good night’s sleep, it can also reduce the chance of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and depression. Adults need 7-9 hours of sleep per night.

Pregnant? Text4baby gives you and your baby a great start together.

Text4baby is a free service that provides pregnant women and new moms with free text messages each week on having a healthy pregnancy and caring for a new baby. The messages are timed to your due date or the baby’s date of birth.

Take health on the go.

With a busy schedule, you may be less likely to make good health choices. Plan ahead, prepare healthy snacks that are low in fat, calories, sugar and sodium. Find alternative ways to fit in physical activity.

Helping Women Who Want to Quit Smoking.

An estimated 18% of women in the United States smoke cigarettes. But surveys indicate that at least three out of four of them want to quit. This May, let moms who smoke know that they’ve taken great care of their families and that now you want them to do something important for themselves: quit smoking.

Let them know that you are supportive. Smoking cessation treatment and social support derived from family and friends improve cessation rates.

Be safe, everyday.

Wash your hands to stop the spread of germs. Wear seat belts at all times, and make sure to protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun.

Before I became a Mother…
I had no idea what unconditional love really was.
I didn’t realized naps were so important. Not only for small children but also moms who haven’t had a full nights sleep in weeks.
I did not ask for extra napkins or gender specific happy meal toys in the drive through.
I never cried just because I was so happy.
I never crawled around on the floor growling and pretending to bite toes just to make a toddler laugh.
I had never recieved a crayon drawn card or realized that I would treasure tiny bits of paper that say I love you Mommy.
I didn’t look to see if a movie was rated Pg or Pg-13.
I never knew that watching a child sleep could be more interesting than any other part of my day.
I danced and sang along with Madonna instead of the “Wiggles”.
I didn’t really believe in love at first sight.
I did not know how much I would enjoy braiding my daughter’s hair.
I had never bribed anyone with cheerios or m&m’s.
I did not think that a child’s cough or a baby rolling over at night could wake me from a sound sleep.
My purse wasn’t the home of matchbox cars or wet wipes.
I did not know that a tiny hand holding onto one of my fingers could bring me to tears.
I never knew that I would want to change the entire path of my life to accommodate a child.
I did not know that my oldest daughter graduating high school would bring me such pride, joy, and sadness all at once.
I had never reminded anyone to brush their teeth, do their homework, eat their veggies, don’t be late, or fasten their seatbelt.
I never knew how fast time flies by.
I did not know that a ten year old could make me laugh longer than any stand up comedian.
I never felt so trusted, needed, or important.
I didn’t know a simple hug could turn my whole day around.
I didn’t know becoming a mother would be the most wonderful thing I have ever done.

Wishing a Very Happy Mother’s Day to the special, loving, Mother’s out there who would sacrifice everything for their children’s happiness and well being.
