Three in custody within hours after several reports received of vehicles being broken into south of the river!

Local Law Enforcement arrested three people suspected of breaking into multiple vehicles.

Sheriff Shawn Stephens reports that his deputies responded Thursday morning to 19 reports of vehicles that were broken into overnight.

During their investigation, deputies identified 27-year-old Otis Gifford Bailey, 19-year-old Devon Harper, and 19-year-old Maurillo Leon, all of Batesville, as possible suspects.

Deputies and other law enforcement agencies located the trio and stopped their vehicle.

Stephens said one of the suspects attempted to run away but was caught after a short foot chase.

All three are being held in the Independence County Detention Center, awaiting the filing of formal charges.

Stephens credited the Arkansas State Police and the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force in assisting his deputies.
