Inmate Attempts Escape On Wednesday

At 11:00 am on Wednesday authorities were notified that a transport vehicle from Greene County had an inmate attempting to escape. The vehicle was reported to be stopped at the Double Bees gas station on Hwy 63 in Walnut Ridge.

Walnut Ridge Police, Hoxie Police and Lawrence County units all responded to assist the transport officer in distress. The inmate reportedly attempted to break out the vehicle windows by removing a headrest from the vehicle and using it to hit the glass.

Hoxie PD arrived on scene within 2 minutes closely followed by WRPD, officers were able to quickly diffuse the situation.

The inmate’s identity has not been released, no injuries were reported.

Units were clear from the scene at 11:28 am.
