Black River Area Development Corporation (BRAD) needs applications for their FREE Weatherization Assistance Program serving 14 counties in Arkansas. BRAD Weatherization is an Energy Efficiency Program of the Arkansas Energy Office and the Department of Energy.

Brad Weatherization installation includes insulation for attics, walls and floors, weather-stripping on doors and windows, air sealing crawl spaces and attics, and health and safety measures. These services are free and funded through the Department of Energy and Arkansas Energy Office for those who qualify.

Qualifying households incomes cannot exceed 200% of Poverty Guidelines as determined by the Department of Energy. Households with a member receiving Social Security are categorically eligible.  Also, priority is given to households with members who are elderly, handicapped, with children under the age of 19, and Native Americans. 

The Weatherization program is free and for those who qualify in any of the following counties: Baxter,  Boone, Clay, Fulton, Independence, Izard, Lawrence, Marion, Newton, Randolph, Searcy, Sharp,  Stone, and Van Buren. Families who receive weatherization services may see their annual energy bills reduced by an average of $200 to $300 annually for up to 30 years, maybe more.
