John Ben Smith, 74, of Ravenden, Arkansas, passed away, Sunday, September 12, 2021, at his home in Ravenden.

He was born in Light, Arkansas on June 19, 1947, son of the late J.L. and Hazel (Cummins) Smith. John spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He married the love of his life, Lynetta Rush on June 29, 1969, in Ravenden Springs, Arkansas and the enjoyed 52 years of marriage. John loved spending time with his family and always cherished their time together. He served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. John was a man of many talents. He was a cattle farmer, logger, block mason, school bus driver and mechanic. People from all around would bring their tractors, vehicles and dozers to him for repair. John was a Christian man and attended Friendship Methodist Church in Ravenden, Arkansas.

John is survived by his wife, Lynetta Smith of Ravenden, Arkansas; sons, John Anthony Smith (Jamie) of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Mark Allan Smith (Lacey) of Drasco, Arkansas; grandchildren, Ashleigh Nicole Baker (Josh), Jeremiah Lee Smith (Charlie), Lauren Elizabeth Smith, Olivia Claire Smith and Sophie Brooke Smith; great grandchildren, Ollie and Jaxson; brothers and sisters, Jewelette Robertson (Jim), Ruth Leonard (Jimmy), Charlene Blann (John B.), Luther Smith (Sharon) and Edna Jane Bailey (Roger) and sister by heart, Lucinda Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.L. and Hazel Smith; sister, Mary Clements; brother, Bobby Smith and granddaughter, Emily Grace Smith.

Pallbearers include: Howard Gipson, Josh Baker, Ronnie McClintock, Ricky Pickett, Justin Pickett and Jackie Pickett

Honorary Pallbearers: Gene Pickett, Chuck Rush, Curt Rush, Bryan Smith, Jim VanEss and members of Friendship Methodist Church.

Funeral Services will be held, Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Friendship Methodist Church, 701 Country Road 128 Ravenden, Arkansas 72459 beginning at 10:00 AM with Bro. John Stoll officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Oak Cemetery in Ravenden, Arkansas. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Friendship Methodist Church from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
