A man missing since late August was found in a vehicle that went into a river according to authorities.

Batesville police officers stated that on Sept. 9th that a vehicle had gone through a fence and into the river.

Officers reviewed footage on Sept. 10 that showed a vehicle going into the river and then disappearing.

Norfork Dam officials were notified of the incident and shut the dam down in order to let the water level go down.

On Sept. 11th Batesville police and the Independence County Sheriff’s Department searched the river for evidence of a vehicle in the water.

Independence County Dive Team found a 2012 Chevrolet Captiva just before 9 a.m. on Sunday along with the body of Jerry Dwayne Overland.

The body is being sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.
