Prosecutors today announced the conviction of Jaylane Joslin for the murder of Kelsey Brooks Joslin in August 2020.
Jaylane Joslin was sentenced today to 30 years in the Arkansas Department Of Corrections.
3rd Judicial Prosecuting Attorney Ryan Cooper released the following statement involving the case. Cooper stated â€œI cannot overstate my appreciation for the diligent work of the Lawrence County Sheriffâ€™s Office and the Arkansas State Police, together with the untiring efforts of Lead Prosecutor Jerrod Slayton and Deputy Prosecutor John Pettie. It is my hope that the disposition today will bring a sense of closure to the family and pray it allows them to further the healing process while still remembering the ways that Kelsey touched their lives.â€

Jaylane Joslin, age 29 of Alicia is currently being at held the Lawrence County Detention Center in Walnut Ridge awaiting formal charges as the investigation continues into the death of his partner, Kelsey Brooks Joslin.
The body of the missing Lawrence County woman, Kelsey Brooks Joslin was discovered on the property of the Joslinâ€™s residence on Lawrence 739 near Alicia Monday afternoon, August 10th, 2020.
Kelsey was reportedly last seen on Saturday. On Sunday, when family and friends could not reach her the Lawrence County Sheriffâ€™s Office was contacted to do a welfare check.
Deputies arrived on scene on the evening of August the 9th and attempted to make contact with Jaylane Joslin at the residence concerning Kelseyâ€™s whereabouts. Deputies reported a male subject who looked through the blinds of the home then turned out the lights in the residence and refused to answer the door. Additional units from the Lawrence County Sheriffâ€™s Office were requested to the scene, An ambulance from Medic One was placed on standby near the residence. Officers using their PA system hailed the subject requesting the person inside the house come to the door.
This took place for well over an hour before Jaylane Joslin eventually opened the door to talk to deputies. Consent was given by Joslin to look inside the residence. Kelsey was no where to be found.
As the investigation continued into Monday, law enforcement returned to the residence and by Monday evening Jaylane Joslin had been detained and the Lawrence County coroner was called to the scene.
Kelseyâ€™s body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime laboratory where an autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death. The Arkansas State Police is assisting the Lawrence County Sheriffâ€™s Office in this investigation.
